technical brakes on american trailer

i am restoring an american travel trailer for use in the UK.

it is a 1951 model.

i am trying to find out the regulations for braking system.

it is fitted with electric brakes and no parking brake.

i am trying to keep the trailer as original as possible and therefore didnt want to have to change the brakes out for an over run cable operated system etc.

I am trying to find out if there are exemptions for historic vehicles?

Any advice gratefully received

There aren't any concessions for US trailers, historic or not.

To use it in the UK or Europe, it'll have to be fitted with over-run brakes. If it's over 7'6" wide it can only be towed by a vehicle 3501 kg or more.
