I,m having problems with my water pump on my swift challenger, when plugged in it keeps running, resulting in blown fuses inside the main fuse box, the correct amp fuses are being used, not sure if its the pump or could it be something telling the pump to run contstantly, there are no leaks and the water heater is working properly anyone any ideas.

Do you have a pump running warning light ? If that is on while the pump is running and the taps are in the off position perhaps you have faulty micro switches as I did one time. Just enough to trigger the pump but not enough to deliver water to the taps. Ended up replacing the lever swivel type tap with an 'old fashioned' turn the knob type.

no, there is no pump warning light, would there be a flow sensor switch anywhere???

Does your 'van have an on board water tank?
no it doesnt, i thought at first it was because there was a slight drip from the water heater, but thats ok now, and pump is still trying to pump water into van, resulting in in fusebox overheating

where would i find this micro switch

Do not know whether it will help but we had simular problem and it turned out to be a leak in the supply pipe and the water was going back into the tank . As for fuses blowning had it been running long?

The pump had prob been running for about 30 mins, we discovered that when we changed the fuse the previous owners had put in a higher amp fuse than should have been, when it was replaced with the correct one it blew straight away. its def not losing water inside or outside van, water heater works perfect but if i keep the pump plugged into van it runs cont.

although the pump runs it doesnt take water out of the aqua roll unless i open taps. could it be a faulty pump???

Hi Senga

First thing I would do is try another pump, if you get same problems the chances are it is not the pump,if other pump works OK just change your original one.

had the same problem when we first got our bailey the pump run constantly when plugged in i took it back to the dealers and he adjusted it by turning a grey knob on the bunk floor near the heater look to see if you have got one its connected to the water feed pipe that goes into the heater turn it anti clock wise fully open then turn on the tap so the water runs full bore through the tap then turn clock wise with the water running untill it stops clicking then turn off the tap and the pump should stop running

hope this helps

I,ll try that, will it still work straight from the battery??? i store my caravan away from the house and dont have access to electric.

i,ll post a reply to all when i get it sorted.

Senga,

We have a Barrons dealer special which is based on the Swift. Our pump warning light is in the electric switch panel above the main on/off circuit breakers. The micro switches are built into the underside of the tap unit - i.e. under the sink - and are awkward to get to unless you are a contortionist with spare hands to hold a torch and mirror to see what you are doing. Don't want to sound too defeatist but I had help when I tackled mine. So I hope your problem will be solved by the other hints offered here.

I had exactly the same problem on my previous van, what I found was if the washroom taps were not turned off right to the stops then the pump would run even though there was no water coming out of the tap.
