I have for many years towed a caravan to Devon and up Telegraph Hill at Exeter. I have towed with an Austin Maestro 1.6L, two Vauxhall Carltons 2.0GLS, Vauxhall Omega 2.0GLS and now Daihatsu Fourtrack 2.7TDI. Every occassion the temperature needle has risen to boiling by the time I have reached the top. On reaching the top the needle has returned to normal. Even the hill up the ring road from the Rivierra Roundabout at Torquay has not proven a problem. Does anybody else experience overheating on Telegraph Hill?

My uncle used to live in Torquay so I was a regular Ascender of telegraph hill, but even with my foot planet firmly on the floor of our Sharan TDI 110 with an 18' twin axle on the back, the temp needle barely budged but youre right that telegraph hill is a serious test of the cooling system, there aren't many hills in this country that are that steep for that long, we were down to 40 mph flat out.
