Television Advice Required

I currently have a T.V.which works off mains power or the car battery in the years ive had it I have only ever used it on mains.Id like to up date the T.V. to HD ready slimline model with Freeview and built in DVD player and i Pod docking station.My questios are 1)can I use an ordinary house T.V.as I will be useing it on hook up only? 2)Id like a 17" but can only find a 19" does anyone know of a 17" model with all those features. Thank you for any advice.
