It seems that the region where we lived before coming to the UK has suffered devastating floods. It is know that up to 60 have died, but the total could be a lot higher. Some tile and mortar homes were washed around. Dozens of brand new Toyota cars under water.
When we visited South Africa in 2018 we stayed in an area that was on the crest of a hill. A picture sent by the daughter shows that the home next door to where we stayed was under about 1m of water as it in a very slight dip on the crest. She also sent some videos of water running through homes like indoor waterfalls.
