Have a look at UK Campsites site. 69 reviews . Sounds very good.

Do you have to be a CCC member to get in here?

Cheers

Hi Jo-Anne

Not too far from home and plenty to see in the area. Maybe worth joining the CCC . Don't forget they work a non returnable deposit system.

Are you going to join?

Cheers

Hi Joe Anne,

We spent 5 nights there earlier this year.

Superbly kept site with washroom facilities that are out of this world! Individual cubicles tiled in marble with own toilet, walk in shower and hand basin. Spotlessly clean and really friendly wardens. ( I read somewhere that they owne the site and it is a franchise arrangement with CCC) We had a fully serviced super pitch as well. Excellent shop selling locally prepared produce.

Small playground for the kids and lots of really good cycle tracks around a now closed coal mine just across the road.

Hardwick Hall (N.T.) not far away.

Not a lot of other tourist attractions on the doorstep but plenty to do if you are prepared to drive a while.

We loved it.

Just make sure you approach the site using the directions provided. DO NOT use a sat-nav if travelling from the North as it will take you down a very narrow, very long hedge lined road with no passing places big enough for a caravan!!
