thank you Lutz

just a quick thank you to Lutz for advising us of a good route from north Germany to south of France. we followed your route crossing at mulhouse onto besancon then lyon and found it very easy.we did most of the driving on saturday and sunday as the roads were quieter.

thank you for your help you prevented alot of heated discussions. by the way frankfurt looked lovely from the A5 have promised to go and visit some day.

Glad to be of help. It's the route I take because it avoids the Alps and there's usually very little traffic on the A36/E60 between Mulhouse and Beaune.

We have stayed at the site in Beaune a few times en route (Cinq Vines I think)

Its convenient for the auto route and has a nice cafe

Its a shock as you walk into Beaune on a summer's evening to suddenly see a plaque on the wall marking the execution point where a partisan was shot during WW2.

Makes you count blessings etc
