Thanks Reich...

The handset for our 2.5 year old motor mover packed up without warning (fortunately, just after getting the caravan back on the drive)

Not realising it had a 3 year warranty I searched Ebay and gasped at the £120 price for a new replacement. There was a brand new handset & control board for sale for not much more than the price of a handset alone - and it was the newer type that has the circuitry for the auto-roller engagement, so I snapped it up.

However, after speaking to Reich UK, they cheerfully swapped the faulty handset for a new one as it was less than 3 years old. What's more they didn't ask for proof of purchase or installation - so well done Reich.

On the face it it I now have two brand new handsets - which is always handy. However, sod's immutable law decrees that they operate at different frequencies ;), so each handset can only be used with the matching circuit board.

Still, I suppose I can sell the the new handset and the original board, or keep them both as, apparently, the circuit board is the thing that usually fails.

Anyway, thanks again to Reich for good service.

Creature Comforts,

This is an interesting one. I have heard that a company can get a better reputation if they provide an excellent service (such as you received from Reich) when their products occassionally fail, than if they were totally reliable in the first place.

I guess from your reaction, this must be true - just as a matter of interest, and taking a 'detached' view, would you say your opinion of Reich is now higher than it would have been if the failure had not occurred?

Enjoy your holidays.

Hi Trevor,

The answer has to be 'yes' I'm the first to moan when the caravan trade provide bad service (which is relatively common, sadly) so it seems on fair to give Reich a bit of a tout when they do the decent thing.

I'm not, actually, sure whether our particular mover *was* entitled to the 3 year warranty - it may have been introduced after we had made our purchase in 2007 - but Reich didn't hesitate to send a new remote, legal technicalities notwithstanding.

OK, the list price is about
