The British Post Office

My beloved does all the domestic money. Why? Don't ask me.

She stuck all my pension money with the Icelandic Bank. We got it all back thank God.

To be safe in these transient times she placed it in The British Post Office.

Today I discover it's not the PO as we all knew it but some Irish Bank!!!!

I am told neither the British Government nor the Bank of England give any guarantee at all!! Unbelievable. Just think about all those "not so well off" people who save with the PO.

Well we've moved it all today into my RBS account with zero interest until we can move it somewhere else on monday.

This just takes the pi$$ out of us hard savers.

The truth is you may as well leave it all under the matress.

Northern Rock looks good , but only because it it is owned by us the British people. RBS is virtually owned by us but are close to offering zero interest.

What the hell has honestly gone wrong with Great Britain?????????

Cheers

Alan

It is the result of the greed of the fat cats and also money laundering with the short selling of shares on the open market. Until the fat cat bonuses are brought under control and short selling made illegal throughout the world we are always going to have these problems. Whilst it is legal who can blame the fat cats and finaciers for making money the way they do - given the chance probably we would all do it.

At present our money is divided between the Yorkshire BS and the Nationwide with a little bit in shares with Standard Life and a small amount in premium bonds. As you say - where is the best to invest at present.

Colin

We have the premium bonds which are NS & I

But who would have thought the British Post Office savings were Irish.

God it makes me so ANGRY!!!

Cheers

Alan

Alan I am quite sure that the Irish government has a system in place for banks similar to our own with the exception that the amount is larger.

I thought the irish guarantee was unlimited amounts, didnt the banks complain it was unfair and enticing savings away from England, cheeky sods
