The Broadway CC site, the Cotswolds

Broadway is a lovely site.
The first time we were on it,it was still the old railway with very old toilet facilities.that section is still there but with the new section added a few years ago.Top class toilet facilities,huge big pitches.Not being a doggy person I'm not sure about dog walks there.
Broadway is within walking distance with some very nice shops ( a favourite haunt for Americans ) and of course the rest of the Cotswolds is on the door step.

Yes, Broadway is a lovely site as is Broadway village itself. Unfortunately, the facilities for dog walking are extremely poor. The on-site dog walk is almost non-existent and the road which runs past the site is so busy with heavy goods vehicles. Being a dog owner we wouldn't return there, however, if you don't own a dog then it will be fine.
hi broadway is a brill site plenty of places to visit there where plenty of dogs when we went in a great location easy walk into broadway village

i love this site its so beautiful and peaceful. the pitches are huge and mostly hardstanding. the facilities are great and spotless and the wardens are really nice people. the area is beautiful broadway itself is a chocolate box village with quite a few shops. xmas shop, old sweet shop, crock shop, chemist, pub and a small supermarket and a few more.
you can visit broadway, bourton on the water, moreton in the marsh and even stratford.
if i could go every week end to a site it would be broadway.
as you know i also have a staffie there isnt much of a dog walk but you could always walk diesel down to the village and back.
ill ask craig and see if he remembers how big the dog walk was.

I must agree about the dog 'walk' being dire - about 30 paces long and 5 paces wide. And that's being generous. It does get a bit smeely (urine) on warm days as well.
I would also agree about the walks by the tower being really good. However if you don't want to have to jump into the car everytime you walk the dog, I'd suggest you go elsewhere!

Sorry to be late replying - just come online!
I would say that it is about 30 foot long and 12 foot wide and situated at the top of the site (uphill climb whichever way you choose to get there). I only have a Cairn Terrier and it was far too small for her. We found that people were actually exercising their dogs on the site itself, a thing not to be encouraged even if they do 'pick up' afterwards.

Thanks Ann. That is small. It's a bit disappointing but I'll keep my booking. At least the dogs should appreciate the space in my garden when they get home!
It's my husbands duty to walk the dogs in the morning. He doesn't let them off lead so it shouldn't be too bad.

hi lisa, the other option you have is the moreton in marsh site. that is a beautiful site not as open as broadway and lots of trees. but it more busier and the noise from the road is quite bad if you pick a pitch next to the main rd. also the pitches arnt as big as broadway and you have to put your car in front of your van if you have an awning. i like looking out of the window of my van at the kids, dogs and being nosey, lol. i dont want to be looking at the sedona all weekend.
the plus side is they have a huge dog field but alot of people let there dogs off on there im afraid.

I didn't fancy Moreton in the Marsh CC site as the Fire Service College is dangerously close LOL!!
Phil will just have to have his wits about him when he takes Daisy into the dog walk! LOL! Mind you, other dogs will only try it once!!

There is only a tiny fence surrounding the dog walk and it is not possible to let dogs off for exercising. All in all, it is very disappointing as the site/village is really lovely.
We found the site to be quite noisy from traffic. It is set within a triangle of roads! Some areas are more peaceful but they are such a long way from the dog walk/entrance to site.
If you want a really good site which has an excellent dog walking area you should try Cirencester Park CC. It is a large site, but when pitched you wouldn't really know that. The dog walk is at the top of the site (a large field actually which is fully secure even for my little monster who is an escapee from any situation). The grass is kept short like the site itself. It is mostly grass pitches at the top of the site but really well drained - we were in a real deluge last year and the road became a river. Within 15 minutes of it clearing the entire area was dry underfoot!
Adjacent to the doggie field there is a child/teen playing area. This is a huge grassed area with a cycle track around the edge and bowles pitch. Loads of space for any type of ball games.
If you prefer to park on hard standing you can do this on the lower part of the site. It is still easy access albeit a bit more of a walk to the dog area. You can, however, take a walk into Cirencester Park from the lower area, again a doggies paradise.
I think you have set your heart on Broadway, so give it a go.
You could actually have a trip to Cirencester Park and have a look around the CC site to give you some idea of what it is like since you will be relatively nearby.
Whatever you decide have a great time.

We will leave the booking as it is but whilst we are in the area, we will go and have a look at the other site as I imagine we will be returning to the Cotswolds a few times in the future.
I guess the dogs will just have to rough it this time!
