A well connected man with two calor lites. Someone might have them away. Thought the firemen might have secured them.

It must be a slow new day, because according to Wikipedia
Storm Aurore - Wikipedia

"Storm Aurore was an notable early extratropical cyclone in late October 2021 that impacted several areas of Europe, causing substantial damages."

I'm of course pleased no one was seriously hurt, however, from a technical point of view caravans are basically a box of air which isn't very dense, so with its large surface area ( just think of how much drag it exerts when you tow, and that's from the most aerodynamic point of contact) its hardly surprising that enough wind speed can flip a caravan sideways.

Very unlucky for this to happen. The advice we have is that in high winds try to pitch with the front or back facing into the wind as there is less resistance that was and the caravan is more stable that way. If you cannot do this place the tow car between the wind and the caravan to cut down on the wind hitting the caravan.

A few years ago we went to the Portsmouth CAMC site. It is high up on a promontory overlooking Portsmouth. On arrival, the warden warned, no awnings, and to park to block the wind.

We have a 4.2 metre Fiamma in its bag on the side. That night the wind was lifting it off the van so it banged back against the side. I put towels behind it and a bungy from the zips to the wheel to stop it so we could get some sleep.
