I assume the flush pump has packed in: the 3 amp fuse blows. Any hints on replacing the pump: recommended supplier/ where *is* the pump, is it an easy replacement job? Any advice welcome.1992 system.
Hey Damian, that's brilliant, thanks everso. I have a local caravan dealer who should be able to get the new pump, and will let you know. Sounds pretty straightforward. Cheers.Richard, the pump is located under the toilet roll holder.
Lift out the toilet roll, then twist and turn the holder it sits in, the bit that sits up from the flat surface, and it will come out, may be a bit tight though.
Make sure the 12v supply is OFF
The pump is directly under it and is held in place by one screw which is on the left side of the pump looking down on it.
Remove the screw and pull the pump upwards, remove the flush tube and you should have a wire attached to the pump.
Cut the wire as close to the pump as possible and discard the pump and the holder surrounding it.
Your new pump, available from any good spares shop, or Waudbys, or O'Learys, it is a Thetford C2/C3 flush pump, has a crimp on each wire.
Strip back about 1.5 inch of the cable you just cut and bare the wires about 1/2 inch.
Put the pump in the new holder, put the heatshrink on the cable, out of the way, then crimp the connectors to the corresponding coloured wires.
Bring the heatshrink tube back over the cable join to ensure it covers the whole joint area with equal overlap each end and use a hot air gun to carefully shrink the tube onto the cable to provide a water tight seal.
Put the pump, in its new holder, back in place, replace the screw, refit the flush tube, toilet roll holder, just push it in making sure the flush tube is clear of it and the cable is clear of it, twist to lock in position, replace the toilet roll.
Tools needed: Philips screwdriver, crimping pliers, heat gun.
Richard, it is straighforward, just be careful with the heatgun, dont melt the cable and toilet as well!! and play the heat equally along the heatshrink to make it shrink properly.Hey Damian, that's brilliant, thanks everso.
