Thetford flush leaking

Hi All,

The flush ran out in the caravan at the weekend, so I filled it up pink stuff first then water to the brim. Went into the loo in the van to find the bowl half full- of pretty much neat pink stuff.

Having grilled the wife and child to find out who thought it was a good idea to waste all the pink stuff, and being told neither had been anywhere near the loo, I realised that fluid was leaking through the flush and into the toilet.

It was quite a slow dribble, and if I pressed the flush button I did get a proper whoosh of the liquid, so I'm not sure the pump was active. Similarly, if I switched the van's power off the leak continued- and this time pressing the flush did nothing as the supply to it had been isolated. So again, I'm pretty sure the issue is not down to the pump being powered when it shouldn't be (i.e. a short circuit).

The leak/flushing continued for a while and slowly petered out- but not having completely emptied the cistern; hitting the flush did still give plenty of fluid.

Any ideas? I did replace the pump in March I think it was, because it died completely.

Had the same problem. The tubing inside the flush tank has a valve in it which needs to be above the water level. The clips holding it in place break. Then the tubing and valve end up lower than they should causing the water to syphon through into the toilet bowl. Not sure which model you have but on mine the access into the flush tank is by removing the housing that the flush button sits in. Then it's a case of reclipping the tubing back into place either with new clips or improvising with cable ties etc.

Had that problem in the last Hymer I had, so worried I was getting up in the night to open the blade. ( frightened it would flood the bowl ). Thankfully that's gone p/ex for my new one.
