Thetford fridge error code 9 Gas Lock out

My Thetford fridge on gas does not ignite and the light starts flashing and the error code 9 is showing.
This is Gas Lockout because flame fails to ignite after 30 seconds
I turn the fridge off and on again and it works ok for a few hours then I get the fault again as it fails to ignite
Has anyone else had this problem and what was the cure?

Also does anyone know of an engineer in the Leicester area who could mend my fridge?

How old is the fridge and when was it serviced last (the fridge, not the van!)

For an engineer in your area look at the Approved Workshop website, "Find an Engineer"

The caravan is a 2010 Coachman Pastiche and I have just spoken to the previous owner and although the van has been serviced it did not include the fridge. So it seems it has not been serviced in 4-5 years.

Do you think then that it just may need a good cleaning? I may take the vents off and have a look at the flue for soot etc. Are the burners and ingition system accessible through the rear vent apperture or do I have to pull the fridge out inside the van?

Since posting the topic I have found this engineer in Nottingham http://www.motorhometech.co.uk/fridge_repairs_11.html. May give him a bell.

I would advise getting a reputable mobile engineer to look at it.

The Thetford fridges are a problem in as much as the build is difficult to access parts and it is essential that should the fridge need to be moved, it MUST have the room seals replaced correctly to save you from being poisoned by CO when in use on gas.
