HI, All, having the van home, recently, Coachman 560 VIP, 2013, decided to check if the fridge, runs on gas, it did a month ago, The Thetford series 3000 runs ok on 230 and 12 volts towing, On gas, I can't hear the ignition clicking, tried many times. Fuse ok , calling Thetford engineer, but anyone had similar problem, with any quick fix.

Just remembered, last year I replaced the main pwer unit and dismantle the fuse board, I will recheck the connectors just in case the link to the fuse has come disconnected, maybe clutching at straws, but back to basics. .
Thanks all.
Hutch.

I may be just a loose connection on the power board or a fault with the power board.
They are NOT easy to get to or work on, or to replace.
Also they are not cheap if they fail.
It definitely needs a Thetford trained engineer to look at it.

Thanks Damian, I had a look at the Pcb for loose connectors, nothing found, need to find a breakdown of the spares diagram, but waiting a feed back from my local Thetford engineer. I can see a lot of beer chittys going down the way to My man. If I can remove the pcb I can check it out for faults, not an easy task though.
Thanks again.
Hutch.

Hello Hutch,

We had absolutely nothing but trouble with the Thetford refrigerator in one of the Coachman's. Whole unit replaced and then three PCB's on the replacement. I was glad when it was time to change the van. My conclusion was that Thetford should stick to toilets because their fridges were.................

Or perhaps they should just forget all the fancy 'automatic' change over functions; ignition; etc.

Whatever was wrong with a simple piezo push-button ignition and a selector switch? .... no need for any sort of electric supply to run on gas.

Oh! ...forgot. It doesn't look any way near so sexy on a brand new 'van .....and replacement PCB's are a nice lucrative little earner for both Thetford and the servicing industry.

Hope you get it sorted Hutch. I've only had Electrolux and Dometic ( the successor) and had no problems apart from flattening the battery by leaving the fridge door open with the master 12v switch on :S :woohoo:
Just a thought if a new PCB is telephone numbers there people who can fix the boards fairly cheaply.
May be worth a call to these guys :

Assuming the problem is the pcb of course. Off to the FC tonight with a taster session :) How are you two doing

Hi Craig, yes always done the no gas sites but need to go for a weekend to a "self sufficient " on in a couple of months.
Dusty, I am going to take out the pcb and test it as far as I can, hopefully might be just cruddy connections, but will maybe send it to that company after Stratford. On SW stagnant until last week , 3 LBS down and E managed a massive 6 down. So a bit of a moral booster , 10 to go to target. :cheer:
