Thetford Toilet - Flap not retracting all the way

Hi folks,

Another day, another issue...but that's part of the fun right?

So just checking over the toilet system and noticed when I open up the flap on the toilet the flap doesn't retreat all the way back so leaves a nice little splatter area that waste can hit etc.

I'm sure I've come across videos/articles detailing this but I can't for the life of me, find them again. I believe one said that it was quite a common issue and quite a simple but fiddly fix?

Thanks in advance.

Yes there is quite a flimsy plastic gear rack and quadrant that operate the flap that jump teeth. Often jumps if paper gets caught in the flap. Also not opening or shutting it if sitting on the toilet will prevent this. Persons weight puts pressure helping causing it to jump teeth. If you remove the cassette and look up underneath you will see the gear rack and quadrant. Undo the screw in the centre to release the gear quadrant and re align the teeth then put screw back in to hold gear. Thetford also sell a lubricant for the flap to keep it free moving.
