Hi guys, the toilet in this caravan has s manual pump flush, the little lever at top where you pump it up and down.

Now my question is,how strong is the water suppose to come out into the bowl? Mine trickles out, seemd very poor and not alot of water comes out.

At one point it was leaking out the top part area where the handle is, maybe due to over filling it up (is that possible)

I ask as it just seems very poor and my last old caravan had an electric type that had s strong stream of water that came out.

Thanks

Hi HNB.
It should be a good strong flow as you press the pump plunger.
I've copied this post from elsewhere. Hopefully it will help you. Either your pump and or its pipes are blocked or the pump needs replacement.

Decided to try again to remove bezel and found out that Thetford repair instructions are incorrect.

Firstly you cannot just remove the bezel with a flat screwdriver because there is a good helping of PTI sealant on the bezel bottom edge.
More importantly the two screws beneath the pump handle have to be removed. These secure the bezel to the pump retainer which has four screws.
Without taking the two screws out, the bezel cannot be removed.
Once the bezel and the pump retainer are removed the vacuum breaker and its connection to the bottom of the pump can be undone.
The pump can then be removed from the flush tank.
I found on the inlet grill to the pump a lump of PINK 'playdough' (pictured) which obviously impeded the flow through the pump and just gave a trickle flush.
Thetford score an own goal both ways.
They give a poor pink flush chemical which coagulates and gives algae. Then d.i.y. repairs are not helped with incorrect repair instructions.
Seeing what lurks in the flush tank after just three years from new, I am giving Thetford toilet products a wide berth.
This is also after flushing the tank with fresh water after every trip.

Rob2

I can't remember the details but I had same problem with the flush, can't remember thetford model but it meant changing a sealed pump assembly, it was a bellows pump and was from memory really simple to change, wasn't expensive and when I removed the old assembly there was a split which accounted for poor performance, I think at the time I got the details of how to change it from either people on here or from thetfords website, easily sorted job for you to tackle yourself.
