I no this is a caravan web site but i'm hoping that with all the knowlage out there sum1 might b able to help.. a few weeks ago we had tar-mac laid, then this week a whloe drum of diesel was spilt on it and it's soaked in leaving a mark what can i use to get rid of the stain...thanx in advance
 
What does cat litter do?

Attract all the neighbourhood cats to pee on it and the uric acid breaks the diesel down and it's washed away by the rain :O)

Bio washing machine powder mixed to a paste with washing up liquid, scrub it in to the marked area and then use a lot of water as oil floats on water. Hose it away or blast with power washer.
 
Molly, go to your local garage workshop and enquire what they use on garage floors and other industrial places where the floors become contaminated with oil and grease. I have used it myself but can not think of the name. IT works on the same principal as the cat litter but has special properties. The only thing is you will have to use it in a dry spell.There are also comercial detergents available that would help, phone a local fuel oil supplier. My experience is that you will never get rid of the stain completely unless the offending patch is dug up and replaced. What about a claim on your house insurance. Who spilt it, if it was not you who did and are they insured. Good luck.JTS.

Just come across this. Molly - you did really well to get rid of it with washing up liquid. I'm astounded that worked.

I'm dying to know, how on earth did you manage to get a drum of diesel spilt over the area? Was it your drive?
 
When I was in the Motor Trade we used to wash the workshop out with something caled 'Jizer'. it acme in a green drum. Be careful though it may just dissolve new tarmac !
