Just had my third Ring tyre inflator fail within a year so i have just been and bought this years must have gadget and future white elephant.

Just bought the Air Hawk Pro. Inflates up to 125psi and can work off either 12v or a battery pack. The jury is out..................

I think I saw this reviewed on Honest John and it came out well. Interesting to see how you find it. Having had 3 flats in less than a year I am paranoid about inflators!,!

I do have an air inflator but it cost £10 in the Coop. It works well enough to top up but it would take forever with a flat tyre.

I use this one at home as I bought it when I had a Pajero for serious off road trips. On some weekends away I would be deflating and re-inflating the tyres so often this was the nearest thing to an inbuilt tyre pressure control system. For caravan trips I take a Michelin 12v electric inflator plus my track bike floor pump, which requires no power at all except what I contribute.

So

I have just used the Hawk for the first time and only used it on battery. The book says one charge will give 15 mins continuous running, and one charge, both caravan tyres from 58 to 65 kgs, two rear BfGoodrich from 35 to 45psi and the two fronts from 32 to 36 psi. Battery still going strong.
It can of course also be used from the cigar lighter socket, but no need. First impressions are that its a decent toy, inflates quickly, auto shuts off but the gauge is very innacurate and requires a stand alone pressure gauge.

Worth £50, probably not.

Which Ring inflator did you have? I have recently bought the RAC 900, which seems pretty sturdy and has a 2 year guarantee. I was lucky in that Amazon had it as one of their Daily Deals so I got over 20% off the normal retail price. It has no problem in dealing with 60 psi on the caravan tyres.

I bought one a few months ago and am not convinced the digital pressure gauge is accurate. I keep saying I will buy a quality analogue gauge sometime to compare it. It seems to read lower than I think the pressure maybe. I like running it off the battery rather than the car 12v socket , if the valve is in the right place you just put it on the floor and wait until it shuts itself off. It's replacing a 21 year old made in china inflator!

Its about 1.5psi lower on the gauge at 45psi. More at 65psi. That said, as a pump it works fine.

Eventually, got round to fitting all the Gadgets that I have bought, 1, the battery isolator. 2. The new whale pump with the Truma fitting, a much better pump and connector, 3 New battery for the Sargent alarm, 4, The tyre pal, pressure monitor for the van, really like that, more piece of mind, and lastly, a box set of Only Fools and Horses. Just got to get a free week to get away now.

........its my workshop tyre pump made out of scrap bits and pieces mainly an old refrigerator compressor!
Works just fine and has done for 20 years now.....65psi no trouble.

I take it you dont carry that in the front locker.
