We woke up one September morning to find our tent surrounded by water. The touring caravan occupants opposite were sniggering at us as we rolled up our jeans paddled about getting all the equipment back into the car. I would have gladly took the lot to the tip, however we had only borrowed it off my Jon's daughter, so we had to get it home, dried out and back into its cover. We both vowed never again will we be going camping!
The following weekend we decided to take a look at these touring caravans at our local dealership Broalane Leisure at Alcester Warwickshire. It was my Jon who termed the phrase caravaning is for pensioners, not me, however as he said it loudly my young friend and her three young boys came bounding round the corner icecreams in hand ... shouting no silly we are only 32 and we've been caravaning for years .. what a daft thing to say we have great fun!
Well we went back quite a few weekends deciding on the caravan and finally purchased a Swift Charisma 4 berth fixed bed all the latest features, last June 2009. We had full instruction from the staff for over an hour and more if we needed.
We have never looked back and we certainly wont be so prejudice in saying its just for pensioners.Infact we are now esceedingly jealous of our retired friends, as they can stay away for longer and have more adventurous trips! Roll on retirement!
We are going to try towing in France in May, we have a very cheap ferry crossing Dover Dunkerque and are hoping for some ideas for sites in and around that area or even Belgium.
Best wishes
Jon and Racheal
