Can anyone recommend an awning this size please. We have a Avondale Grampian which is 17ft long. We have thought about the light weight new awnings now on sale but we had problems once with a compactalite awning and this put us off this type of material. Do like the look of the PDQ awning though.

I also recommend the Bradcot portico xl - we like the versitility in being able to take out all three sides, instead of just having 'doorways' that open as on some porch awnings. Just be aware that the measurement on the awning rail is slightly shorter than the 'base' measurement as it flares out - make sure your vents/windows wont be covered. I phoned Bradcot when thinking of buying this awning, and they were very helpful giving me correct measurements

Hi Erica,

You will find that you can fit a smaller normal awning to your van and by using a pole in the corner, available seperately, you can fit it to your van where you want. If you measure from the ground up to your awning rail at the point you want the awning to end, then carry on measuring around the awning rail to the ground you will have the size you need, this way you can ensure the awning does not cover your windows or fridge vents,we are fans of the Ventura range and good deals are to be had on new awnings that are previous years stock.

Can you give me more detail of this - Where is the pole/conversion kit available from ?
Hi Haydn

Most Isabella or Ventura stockists should be able to supply the pole, all you need to do is to feed the awning into your awning channel and leave the end that stays in the channel on the ground where it will be, then go back to the other end which is still in the channel and mark a point where it will come down to the floor. Now pull the awning back out of the channel and then feed it back in until you reach the mark, carry on pulling the awning through the channel leaving it out at the mark, you then put the awning up as usual and the corner pole clamps on to the end roof pole where the awning is not in the channel, you will be able to feed the awning bead into the plastic strip on the pole to make a seal against the van, might sound complicated but its easy once you have done it the first time.We use a 950 awning on our van which has a full awning size of 1088,leaves a space between the end of the awning and the front of the van for barbecue, chairs etc.
