hi craig

i havent stayed on this site but went to have a look at it this summer. i would say its too far out of the way to take young lads. i wouldnt take children there. we have always taken our boys to the c&cc site at tregurrian just out side newquay. walking distance to the beach but a quiet site good clean facilities, with no club. if you want a cc site i did also look at the site near perranporth . treamble valley this was a pretty site not far from the beach about 3 miles much nicer for children. the cc site at hayle is also well recommended for families .

Hello Craig

Can thoroughly recomment Tintagel site, not only for the wonderful views but also for the good location. The coastal paths are very pretty, take care with the children, some parts are steep and near the edge of cliffs. Tintagel is nice to look around, and just along the road is Boscastle (who will be desperate for tourist support next year after the floods). If you don't mind a bit of driving there are loads of other resorts not too far away. Have a great holiday.

Hello Craig, I said at this site last year it is a lovely site very clean and lovely view but you need an awning tie down kit because the wind can come up very quickly and can be very scary. You need a car to get anywhere. The walks are nice and some of the beaches which are close by are lovely. The beach nearest the site is nice but a long and very steep walk down.

As with the previous reply I would opt for the CC perranporth or Looe site

We stayed there for 2 weeks this july and true you do need your car if you want to go further a field than Tintagel but the site is good ( our three children 17 , 13 and 7 gave it the thumbs up,).the nearest beach is only about a mile away, the play park is good and the views are to die for, the site shop is quite well stocked and you will need a tie down strap for your awning .you can walk to tintagel castle along the cliff path which is steep at places but not to bad, I'say give it a go

Excellent site, wonderfull, brilliant. We watched Dolphins, birds, boats took the coastal path to Boscastle and in the other direction Tintagel. Not many hardstandings. Loos good. Playing field with equipment for kids. Very quiet when we went last summer, does not seen to attract loads of kids. My daughter had a great time.

Thanks very much for all your comments, It sounds something like what we're looking for, though I had wondered about Treamble.I thought Perranporth might be a tad busy in August.

Hi Craig

We stayed on the CC site at Tintagel earlier this year and were not impressed. We booked well in advance and based on the clubs description and recomendation we were looking forward to our stay. However on arrival we were very disappointed as whilst the main site is lovely terraced pitches, we were relegated to the field which is just a basic field with electricity points. Views were very limited to the tents in front and the water and toilet facilities were a very long walk, whilst the charges were the same as the the teraced pitches.

craig we have been going to watergate bay c&cc site 12 or more years, newquay does get busy but the areas around are not too bad. even though our boys dont come with us any more i still have to take my hols in august. last year we went to cornwall in august twice. thinking of a change of site we looked at the cc site at tintagel and cc site at perranporth treamble valley. tintagel means a lot of travelling. its not somewhere i would take children. perranporth is a traditional seaside, also just a few miles away is crantock beach this is owned by the national trust. there are life guards and its another lovely beach. both sides of newquay have some of the best beaches in the country . the perranporth site was as i have said very pretty and well laid out. also the site at hayle is very well recomended, walking distance to the beach.i hope this has been of some help good luck.

My wife and I have been caravaning for many years and have visited Cornwall on three occassions and each time very disappointed with area< it is very expensive, hilly and in our opinion a rip off for holiday makers.

We often visit south Devon which is a total difference - plenty to see, visit and with children rasonabley cheap. We stay at Widend Caravan Site at Paignton which is a quiet site with outdoor pool, small bar area for evening socialising (entertainment area for children only), very clean toilet/shower facilities, small shop and very central for Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth and Totness. The site is a private family run affair and will only accept family parties. Far superior and more friendly area. The site brochure for Widend does not do it justice.

hi colin i gave up visiting devon when my son now 23, was quite young and we lost him in the crowds on painton sands. we found dawlish impossible to park and couldnt even get near to the beach. the same applies to the north devon coast. i dont know what part of cornwall you have been to but i think it has something for everyone.
