Hi all,

How easy is it to obtain toilet chems in france?

Can you buy aqua chem for instance. I have heard some horror stories about cheaper makes...

I have bought aqua chem in France but it is not easily found. I once found it in a hypermarket but that was at the start of the holiday before all the shelves were given over to Back to School kit.

It's worth looking in any caravan or motor home showrooms you pass. They usually have an accessory shop and this will include toilet chemicals.

How long are you going away for? We normally take sufficient to last the holiday.

five weeks in total, two adults and three toilet happy kids.

I'd definitely take it with you. Caravan dealers are very widespread and seem to be out in the country!

loftboy, consider using sachet type. They are a lttle more expensive but they take up less space and lighter.

If you do a Google search for "Sanitaire Aqua Kem" you should get a list of sales points in France. Just make a note of one near to where you're going.

Aqua Kem Sachets (15 dry packets) should be about 15 Euro

Aqua Kem Blue (2 litre) about 12 Euro

Aquakem is available in most Hypermarkets along with cheaper unknown brands. It is often available at discount in caravan dealers some of which are beside main trunk roads with easy access and parking for an outfit. Feast on the goodies and spares in such places as Top Accessoires and Narbonne Accessoires. They leave our Dealers far behind.

Can definitely recommend Narbonne Accessories. We visited their showroom near Montpellier two years running, once to buy an awning light which we had damaged when we hit a hidden barrier, and the second time to buy a tap which had failed. Both times we got what we wanted, both times we saved on the cost in England, and the second time the chap actually remembered us from the previous year!!!

Get them to use the site toilets! I have seen it on the shelves of many of the caravan site shops we have been on

Hi,

Most of the big hyper markets carry it in stock up to mid September.You might not get aquacem, but you will get a alternative to meet your needs it might not be as effective in volume as aquacem but mix it at the manufacturers instructions and you won,t go wrong.We ran out a few years ago and had to buy a unknown make but it did the same job. Sorry I can,t remember how much it was but that in my terms it was not expensive, other wise I would have remembered.
