I've just checked the TT website and you are running version 5.0 of the operating system whereas TT are now recommending 5.2 (I've just upgraded mine as it was 5.1) You can get details here:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/rightnow.php?Page=http://support-uk.tomtom.com/cgi-bin/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1750
It shouldn't make any difference to the operation of the safety cameras but I must admit that I try and keep up to date with the versions.
Anyway, regarding the POIs, I did mine from scratch folowing the upgrade (this method downloads all the c:
1. Download the file from the above link
2. Unzip the file to a location
3. Navigate to the where you unzipped the file above and open the 'ov2 bmp files' folder.
4. You will see 12 files (6 bit maps and 6 OV2 files)
5. Copy all 12 files to the Great_Britain-Map folder on your TTG SD card. You must not copy the whole folder, just the files.
6. All the files should now be on you SD card
7. To enable the cameras in the TTG, select Change Preferences, Manage POIs, Enable / Disable POI
8. Scroll down the list - the first new one you come to should be the 'pocketgps ...'.
9. Tap the screen to the left of the icon to select it (you will see a red tick when it is selected)
10. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for all 6 speed camera types
11. If you want to be warned when you are near one, you need to set up a proximity alert. To do this, select Change Preferences, Manage POIs, Warn when near POIs and select the first camera type.
12. Input how far before the camera you want to be warned
13. Select the warning sound that you want to hear (default is a beep)
14. Repeat steps 11 to 13 for each of the 6 camera types.
That should now be everything sorted - when ever you go near a speed camera, you will hear a beep.
Once you've got this working, the better way is to download each of the speed camera types (Gatso 20, Gatso 30 etc) and link a spoken warning to each type so instead of beeping, the TTG says 'Gatso 20' when you are approaching a Gatso 20.
To do this, see this link -
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php
This all looks a bit daunting but once you've done it once, it's fairly straight forward. The main thing is that you must back-up your SD card before you start.
I hope this helps and if any steps do not make sense, let me know and I will elaborate.
Regards
Louis
