Tourer Valuation

Hi Guys, Was wondering if anyone had any tips of valuing my tourer? I am in the process of getting it ready to sell after 4 fantastic years and want to advertise at the best and fair price. Obviously, I have been looking at classifieds but they are few and far between and I don't know what the actually sold for.

In addition, would you recommend I sell everything as a complete set as I have just about everything imaginable or would you split?

Cheers

Hello Smigger

When we have sold our tents/vans/motorhome etc in the past we have looked at ebay and followed a couple to see the final price, checked the dealers to see if any on the forecourts, taken into account different areas as they will either up or lower the price .. then said how much would we would pay for the 'van if we were buying. You can usually come up with a mean average. It depends if you want a quick sale or prepared to wait until the right buyer comes along.

We also found that different times of year made a huge difference, selling at end of season they were cheaper, winter they were cheaper, but come March/April/May the caravans held prices and you paid the highest as everyone was getting ready for easter hols.

Regarding the items inside ~ Will you be buying another 'van? if yes you will want to keep most of those bits in case the new one you buy doesn't have them. If not then sell the waste/water etc with it to just get rid of them .. or if you have time and patience sell them on ebay but be prepared for a host of daft questions and postage etc .. or the fact they may lie around your garage for a while.

Maybe you could tell us what van it is and how much we would pay for one? that may give you an idea of areas and how much folk prepared to pay. Not sure if this will help but good luck selling it!!

Done littlebasher, when can you pick up?
Thanks for the sdvice Parksy, had just found that sight after I posted my thread. I have decided on a price and for some strange reason have been trying in vain to post the advert on here but it keeps freezing up doohhhhh!

Seems to be freezing when it I try to upload a photo but in the meantime I have placed a classified ad on Ebay
Have decided to sell it as a job lot initially but I have friends who would pay a good rate for them if this doesn't work hence offers for just the van! I agree about the time of the year so we are quite happy to see how it goes and relist next spring if needed. We have decided to have a year or two going camping and touring around spain next year as the kids are older and can now cycle with us!

Sorry to see it go as apart from a couple of minor issues it has been a wonderful family van. Hopefully another genuine family will enjoy it for years to come?

Thanks for your advice and fingers crossed.

Ermm.... Thats because you are not allowed to post adverts on the forum Smigger

Have a read of the rules in Forum Etiquette especially rule 6 which is intended to prevent advertisers because forum members would soon have to trawl through loads of adverts first before they could read the comments that they are interested in and moderators would have a full time job trying to keep spam and inappropriate adverts off the forum if advertising and promotional material were not prohibited.
You are allowed to advertise your caravan free of charge via the coupon in Practical Caravan magazine and you could try the Buy / Sell website which is also run by Haymarket if it's working which is often not the case.
I have to warn you though that the buy / sell site can be difficult to log in to, it's a completely separate site to this one with a different log in and Practical Caravan Forum moderators have no method of helping those having difficulty with that site or it's log in because we don't have the access permissions to the software for that site so it's nowt to do with us
