In Italy we use the normal caravan lead and sometimes a 2 pin connector. We always carry a tester to plug into a three pin in the caravan to check polarity.

Cannot speak for France as we do not go there. But other countries we visit are Belgium, Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary which we use the same as Italy. We carry a small lead with 2 pin one end that fits into the normal UK caravan lead.

The European standard is the CEE17 blue plug we use in the UK. It's use is now quite widespread across Europe but unfortunately there are always exceptions to the rule so I would always suggest taking a Continental adaptor in addition.

Hello Craig, I would reiterate what David Klyne says. You'll often find sites that still have the 2 pin continental outlets will hire an adapter but you will need to check polarity.
