touring site near Ambleside

Going up to watch son do an ironman. Looking for a recommended site near Ambleside near Lake Windermere - which is where the swim is. Thought we might stay there a week and then tour a bit for another week.

The C&CC have a site at Windermere and within walking distance for you. It does get very busy though so it may be booked up.
 
Thanks Raywood. I also see another site Skelwith Fold which is just the other side of Lake Windermere, Have you been there?
 
Sorry I have not been to Skelwith Fold. The site C&CC is the only one local to Ambleside I have visited. There are lots of sites in the area and you might find something using the site finder link at the bottom of the page.
