tow bar and lights not working on caravan

Had a tow bar fitted in April 2009 by local fitter, very good reputation we have used him for the past 10 years (several times. Went to pick up our Bailey caravan from the dealers where it had just had new front and rear panels fitted (due to cracks). Pulled out from the dealers and the indicators were working and the break lights worked but the passenger rear side light blew and the caravan front and back lights would not work. Dealer replaced bulb in car tested all the lights on the caravan, which worked, plugged in the car electrics, light blew again - no lights working on the caravan except indicators. The dealer is saying its the tow bar fitter.

Your comments appreciated.......

What type of plugs have you got fitted ?

Is it 12n & 12s ?

or the 13 pin type ??

Have you towed with it & was everything working ok before you took your van in for repair ?

We have two sockets and yes everything was working before.

hi trucker , they tested the car on their board with all the different lights , indicator , brakes & head lights , etc all worked only when they plugged caravan into car electric that the car,s passenger rear light blew & caravan front lights & rear lights failed but not the indicator lights...c&p

Did they not plug it onto the van aswell to double check it was ok ?

( I bet they have trapped a wire & it's gone to earth when re-fitting the light's )

the dealers even got what i believe was a transformer ( big yellow box thing ) which they plugged into their wall electric socket then plugged the caravan electics into the transformer , all the exterior lights worked...c&p

sorted! bailey had wired up the rear light cluster wrongly , not like them too do something wrong ..LOL...c&P
This reminds me of the first time I towed our caravan after collection from the dealer. The towbar electrics had been wired wrongly so that when I was indicating left the cvaravan was indicating right and vice versa. Luckily wife had dropped me off and was behind in the car so was able to warn me. Dealer was able to fix which was fortunate as we were heading to France the next day.
