Tow car recommendations please

Hi again,

I'd originally posted looking for advice in using a C-Max ecoboost as a tow car. Well, after heeding the advice we have decided to buy another car to be used for towing as well as my daily commute of around 60 miles.
We are looking at buying a Swift Charisma 555 coming in weight wise at MTPLM 1460 kg MIRO1242 kg. I would ideally like a Focus/Golf sized car to commute and tow, but think I'm probably looking at a Mondeo/Passat for the size of the caravan. Out budget will be in the region of 4-5k for the car.
I appreciate any and all advice given.

Passat estate with the 140TDi CR engine (B6 model) if you can find one. The earlier engine was prone to turbo problems.

The Passat estate weighs in at 1525-1552 Kg depending on model and can tow 1800Kg, so your van is well with range if you are an experienced tow-er. It also has the advantage of 90Kg noseweight.

The 2L TDCi Mondeo is also a good towcar but watch the weights and especially the noseweight - some models could only handle 75Kg.
