The short answer is yes, more than adequate.

we have the same car and tow approx 1400kg without any problems and get around 31mpg whilst towing although the clutch isnt to keen on reversing especially up hills.

Whilst the power and weight ratios seem fine, the performance of an outfit is as much to do with correct loading and driving and servicing as just the weights.

I have the same car and a van thats 1350kg the car is fine no problems at all and always returns around 30-35 mpg and is really stable on the road..but as people will mention get your nose weight correct and load the van with the weight over the axel.
