Towbar Problem

Had a Witter towbar fitted to new car last June and was unable to use caravan apart from one short trip due to illness. This year we have been on at trip to France and after about three/four hundred miles cruise control light came on in the car then a few miles later the ABS warning light. We managed to get to a garage and they found it was the wiring to the towbar that was causing the problem, there was bare wire touching the steel it has also affected the fridge as it will not now run on the 12v Has anyone had a problem like this and if so what was the outcome. It cost us 460 Euros, as it was not a fault with the car which was still under guarentee

I would take the car back to the towbar fitter, get them to check the tow bar electrics, the outputs from the sockets or 13 pin.

Maybe they should foot the bill for you repair costs?
