Gary,

Why not look at a Vauxhall Omega Estate - from new these suffered tremendous depreciation, yet offered good quality and a reasonable drive - but as Vauxhall's executive car you should avoid basic models (unless very, very cheap)

Vauxhall Omega estate or the even bigger Vauxhall Vectra-C estate which replaced it, it's a long-wheelbase version of the Vectra hatch/saloon.

If you can hang on a bit what about a Land Rover now they have been sold to Ta Ta India there going to be a lot of cheap cars on the market place.

Gary - if it is an economical 4x4 you may consider with two dogs have a look for a late Daihatsu Fourtrack. The only downside is they are three door vehicles. They are economical whilst towing and offer a comfy ride. I have towed for some time with mine and so far without any hiccup. You would be able to pick a late good one up for

I can't think of anything better than the omega, easy to work on with the power going to the right pair of wheels too!

Do they do a V6 ? that'd be nice with LPG......;-}
