Anyone tow with a Kia Sportage or Sorento Iam looking to change from a 2.2 Xtrail sport Diesel to either of the above cars . Towing a Swift Charisma 555 1480kg fully loaded. any good/bad points .any info would be a help

hi i tow with an 08 sportage crdi manual 4wd although the van i tow is quite light you hardly know its on the back the new version has uprated shocks so the tow weight has been increased to 1,800 kgs very nice to drive if i upgrade to a new pagent series 7 provence i think that only comes out at 80%. seven years warrenty,i must say i'm more than happy,any more questions feel free to ask.h
 
Hi,I have a 56 plate Sorento which I use to tow a van with a max of 1550kg.It tows with ease and is very stable in traffic and high winds.Have been to France with it for the last 2 years covering about 5,000 miles nothing was too much for it and it performed admirably on some very steep sections of road.It cruises effortlessly in 5th on the motorways and copes with most hills in 5th.Averages between 23 and 25 to gallon with van on.Have had 2 (older models) Discoveries and Mitsubishi Warrior the Kia beats them for ease of towing,but if you want something for serious off roading would not pick the Kia

HI! John thanks 4 reply also what about solo fuel figures are they o.k. is your sorento 5 or 6 speed what model is it, and is it all plastic like some older models i have looked at . they looked very crude .

my honest answer is i dont know, the car has only 2,500 miles from new so you wont get the best figures yet anyway,i fill up before we go and havent bothered trying to work out the mpg,all i would say is solo at 60mph the revs are about 1,800/1,900 rpm in sixth gear, theres plenty of power to overtake, with my caravan on the back i can still use sixth gear on most roads and in fact on the motorway you do have to watch the speedo to keep to the 60 limit,all round nice comfortable ride .h.

My car is the Sorento XS and has permanent 4WD when it recognises that a wheel is losing traction it swaps the power from axke to axle when on normal road surfaces I think it more or less reverts to mainly rear wheel drive.I am not a mechanic so if I have got this wrong no doubt someone will correct me!

It has a selectable low ratio gear box.

It does have cruise control which I found to be a boon when travelling on quiet French motorways,not so useful on busy British motorways due to the traffic.It kept the outfit at a steady 60 MPH mile after mile definately a relaxing way to drive

Hope this is of use to you I get about 32 to 36 MPG on urban cycle

Missed your last post have already told you re MPG It is the 5 speed pre face lift model and comes with self levelling suspension air con sunroof etc etc .The model after this does not have the self levelling suspension.It has leather seats and electric operated drivers seat,It really has all the toys.I never thought I would be owning a Korean car but I am really pleased with it and would not hesitate to purchase another.It definately is not all plastic and looks nice.

I have been towing for 35 years and this is the best out of the rest hope this helps you decide

I made the change from an X-Trail to the Sorento about two years ago because I wanted an auto box. We have been delighted with the Sorento as a towcar and it is very difficult to fault. We tow an Eccles at 1325 kgs but have a new van on order which will be around 1500kgs. Economy towing varies between about 19 and 23 mpg. I only used to get 23/26mpg with the X.

Hi I tow with a 2004 Sorento XS 2.5TD it is great it has all the toys as standard it tows my twin axle Bailey Senator Series 6 with no problems.Have been all over Frabce as well with no problems the cruise control is great on the long haul on the french motor ways.I have had several 4x4 over the years but this beats them all get 25 to 26 towing and 32 solo so not bad for a big car I would recomend one to anyone.

Had my 05 Sorie 2.5 cdi xs from new. 65k miles later no problems. Tows our S6 Senator Wyoming with ease.
