Towing A Caravan

Hi, We have just Bought an Abbey County Lincoln 2 Berth Van, With No Plates on it, We reckon its a 1992 Model. we are struggling to find a weight, we have a Rover 25,4 Door car, Does anyone consider the car to be too small or just right.

Thanks

I personally feel that the Rover 25 is far too small to use as a towcar for any caravan, but no doubt others will feel differently.

We are not all fortunate enough to afford large cars and I'm sure the 25 will be heavier than my 89 Golf GTI which was an excellent, stable towcar for its size and weight (970kg) There are some much bigger, heavier cars on soggy suspension that struggle to keep themselves on the road without a trailer. Neil, if there's a weighbridge near you, they do not usually charge much to weigh an outfit. At the local scrapyard I slip the lads a fiver for the job.

To my knowledge, the maximum permissible towload of a Rover 25 is 1000kg. I don't know what the max. weight of the Abbey County Lincoln is, but it will probably be of the same order so it would be borderline, at best.
