towing advice

hi all

totally new to caravanning and want some help if you can please.we have a 55 plate pug 307 110bhp.

we have £2000 to spend on a 4 berth van just to try out and just wondered what van you would reccomend and what pug 307's are like for towing.

Hello David,

With you budget you are definitely looking for second hand. As there are so many different makes and models I will not even attempt to suggest a particular match, BUT you will have to be careful because whilst you tell us you have 2005 307 110bhp, there are several different models within the Peugeot range, and each has a different max towing limit.

My sources suggest the limits are as follows:

307 Hdi 110 3door limit is 1200Kg (85% 1131Kg)

307 Hdi 110 5door limit is 1200Kg, (85% 1145Kg)

307 Hdi 110 Estate limit is 1500Kg (85% 1184Kg)

307 Hdi 110 SW limit is 1000Kg

As ever do not rely on the information obtained from third party forums. Always check the details for specific model with the handbook that comes with the car or with the dealer or manufacturer.

the car we have 1.6 petrol and as for towing wieghts the handbook shows maximum 1200kgs.the % thing doesn't bother me too much after reading that an experienced tower can go up to 100% of the mgtw as i drive hgv's, so what does any one suggest

the car is the 1.6 petrol.the handbook shows 1200kgs max towed van so i estmate somewhere around 96%.this doesn't worry me too much as i drive class 1 hgv's so not too worried about hitting high percentages.

any idea's then ?
