Towing Courses

Hello

Bought our first caravan a few month ago now.

Been away 3 or 4 times now I think with zero issues or worries.

What do they teach in the towing courses which may be valuable if I was to look into going on one?

Had never towed anything before towing our caravan but have never been phased by anything like that.

As well as practical manoeuvre lessons there’s lots of caravanning advice too. I went after I’d had the caravan fir a while but still found the CMHC course invaluable.

I think that the CAMC do two courses, one a basic one on loading, hitching up, weights, legal stuff, and towing and a more advanced one that covers advanced towing and reversing. You can do both but if you feel comfortable with the basics then the second course may be more relevant?

Hi, I did one a few years ago and would thoroughly recommend it. See this thread:

Best wishes

SWMBO did a CAMC course 30 + years ago. It was similar to that described by Mel and spread over one and a half days. The tuition hands on was brilliant.
Even more important for me was the written guide / Book handed out.

I learnt quite a few things that were not in my self teach guide🙀👍.Always good to have two drivers capable of towing.

Never done the course as reckoned that if you can tow a caravan through the African bush, the CAMC cannot teach you much else. We have survived so far. LOL! :D

I said the same until I read SWMBO CAMC training dossier. Hand on heart I learnt so much that I thought I knew nothing! The unusual positioning for reversing in certain positions😉

Mrs H done a quick towing , 1/2 hour trial at the Caravan show a few years ago. Great, until the end when the two tow instructors had a big Barney about parking the car and caravan.

Sorry there are some people out there that " Believe" they are Prima Donna's, and give wrong teachings.
But others are good.

Started caravanning in 1982, never had a lesson. Completely self taught as that was the norm back then. But nevertheless, I would recommend getting some proper training. That is the most sensible way to go.
