Towing mirrors in France

I am reassured that I may not need new towing mirrors in the UK but I am going to France next week. Has anyone any knowledge of how this law applies in France, please? Can I still use my present mirrors or should I buy E-marked new ones? My car was first registered in August 2007.

As long as you have Towing Mirrors fitted on Both side, then I think you will be OK.

I do not have the E marked on my mirrors, but I am not going to purchase a new set, due to some scaremongering from Milenco.

If I ever get pulled up about them, tnen I shall plead ignorance, as they are not a permanant fixture of the car and I have better things to do in life than source legal documents, as to finding out the can and cannots,

Best regards, Martin

I think I go along with that life is too short to worry and how many police either here in France do you think know anything about it.

The French are actually quite wise. If they think a law is daft then they simply just ignore it. I believe that they will think the caravan mirror issue is daft and just carry on as before. Consequently, the possibility of being checked in France is probably quite low. Even their police don't believe in daft rules.

Even here in Germany, which is supposedly noted for being officious, nobody would take a missing E-mark too seriously. So long as the requirements of the E-mark are fulfilled, the fact that the actual mark is missing, is not THAT important.
