I passed my test in January 1997 so therefore i am restricted to what weight etc i can tow unless i take a towing test.

Has anyone out there taken such a test and if so what does it entail? Ie is it just a commonsense thing or would any training

be required to pass?

Hi Tony

It is advisable to have training for the towing test. The test is about 1hr 30mins.It covers coupling up and uncoupling corectly plus general driving.

All relevant information can be had from www.dvla.gov.uk

Good luck

Jim,it's a funny old world when you can tow legally without the test up to 3500kg but you get tested on hitching up if you want to tow with heavier combination. I wonder what the difference is that make hitching up riskier because you have a heavier combination?
