That's the maximum weight of a trailer that can be towed. A goods trailer of 1500kg might be safe to tow but caravans are less stable as their weight is positioned around the outside, rather than concentrated in the centre.

Caravans should be limited to 85% of car's kerbweight, particularly for beginners, and never exceed 100%.
