Towing With A Ford Focus 1.6 (115) Ti-VCT

Has or is anyone towing with a Ford Focus 1.6 115Bhp Ti-VCT petrol hatchback or similar car?

Over the past 10 years we have owned four caravans and towed them with a diesel Peugeot 406. We changed to a motor home and downsized the family car to Ford Focus 1.6 petrol. We prefer caravanning and as a result are considering returning to towing again but we now have a smaller car and engine for the job.

The Bailey Ranger 460/2 is the current favourite with an MTPLM of 1131 making it an 88% kerb weight match and under the 1200Kg towing limit of the Focus.

Any advise or experiences greatly appreciated.

Regards

hi stuart

I towed a ranger 380/2 which is only 50kg lighter than the 460 with a mondeo 1.6 to either end of the country without any major problems, ok so sometimes it was hard work making sure the right gear was engaged before any large hills (1 in 10 or steeper) found in the highlands but overall perfectly adequet

for the job.

BTW the 460/2 with end bathroom "nice van"
