Towing with a toyota yaris am i mad?

I have a toyota yaris and an Elddis Elf

the max actual weight for the van is 900KG

the max tow weight for the yaris is 900kg,(kerb wight 990kg)

so far so good as long as we don't over pack the van.

but the max nose weight is only 40kg based on the 7% rule its 157.5% of the cars max.

am i mad for trying this?

Hi,

7% is only a recommendation, 4% is the minimum so 4% of 900 = 36kg, I used to tow much more than 900 kg with a 1989 Golf GTI which had a kerb weight of only 970kg

Did you ever have any problems, hills etc.

I'll probably feel better after taking the van out a few times, but every time i think of that van on my little yaris wel...................
