All good points, nd I am sure you wont hear nything negative on caravanning from the guys and gals here, we love it, especially the freedom.

As has been said, none of this is an exact science, and what one man considers gospel, another will consider twaddle. What you need to do is devour all the knowledge you can get and adapt it to your own style and plans. We havent even touched on necessary against superfluous exquipment which is a whole new adventure to be had.

What often tends to happen is that new guys buy every gadget they can find, or is suggested to them, and then spend the rest of their caravanning careers wondering how to get the weight back down and learning how to travel light.

Either way, its going to be a learning curve, make that part of the fun of it. Has anyone mentioned awnings and divorce yet? 😉

Another question to you helpful chaps and lasses, being a light weight caravan will I need a moto mover or can I push it my self?
I don't want you all laughing at me when I turn up for the first time trying to reversing

As for the motor mover, you have to consider whether you need it physically. Even somebody adept at reversing will eventually come across a site where it just wont fit and then its either the mover or a manhandle job. If you and your good lady are physically fit you should be able to manage. Do you have steep slopes and tight angles at home. Either way, I cant deny a motor mover is a good addition and nowadays I wouldnt be without one. However, the ability to reverse pays dividends as you wont be inclinded to use a motor mover on the highway if circumstances dicatate reversing. Best advice is learn the hard way (without) and do it the easy way (with).

Jono you will be fine.A very wise old friend of mine(a lot older than me) once said to me a caravan is just somewere to sleep whilst on holiday.You are out most of the day doing nice things.Most of the time you will eat out or barbaque except maybe for breakfast.Most sites have decent washing facilitys.
You might want to start with a basic porch awning,two water containers(clean and dirty),maybe a small tv,some utensils,a spare wheel,decent new tyres to start with and some sort of stabiliser etc.The van may come with some kit or get some thrown in.It is quite cheap to set up.But dont worry about the towing,stick to 50mph till your happy and confident.
Ive said it before and i,ll say it again.Your on holiday,it doesnt matter how long it takes to get to your choosen place.Enjoy man.

Thanks Seth, think we have decided to go with the Venus 2 berth, so lots of dealing with the dealer, I wonder what I can get as extras

Not sure what Seth is referring to. The outfit matching service is going to answer the exact question the OP asked and tell him how well or not, the car will pull the chosen van. The fact that he asked that question in the first place would make you think he may be inexperienced, and hence the advice which is what a forum is all about, help and knowledge. Why then, would you find that annoying that somebody is actually trying to help.

That's assuming the data held is correct, often it isn't.
