Does any one know if there is a web site that compares or reviews tracking devices? We are purchasing a twin axle and for peace of mind I would like a tracking device fitted in addition to the wheel clamp and hitchlock. At the monet Tracker seems to be the best bet as it offers a lifetime subscription for £299.

Is "Thiefbeaters" any good at preventing theft as they etch the caravan all over? I may also consider an alarm system just to make it that much more difficult for any prospective thieves. The caravan will be stored on a Cassoa gold site but the concern is using CLs etc.

Ian, whatever you buy to protect your van, the most important thing is to make it worthless to any thief. We had our new van micro-dotted by Thiefbeaters so any thief will pass it by as all the components can be traced. They claim 100% recovery of stolen vans. We got a big discount on our insurance too, so it must work. Also Fleetwood have just specified it on all their new models. Deterrent is better than cure!

tracker devices do work if you have the correct one, make sure you buy a sold secure system, BUT, if you want to stop the van being stolen rather than recover it after its stolen follow Mike H advice and visit www.thiefbeaters.co.uk Deterrent is better than the cure!
