ProfJohnL,,,I have re-read the user handbook and there is no reference or advice on whether to keep it connected to the mains to maintain the battery in optimum condition,,other than to say that it is "recommended that a good quality leisure battery is always in circuit when the system is in use"

Perhaps if there are other Lunar Arriva users reading this they could advise me.

Part of the overall problem is that having spent many years in tents,,and then several in trailer tents this is actually our first caravan and the handover on the day of collection was rushed to say the least,,, about 40 minutes,,as he had to collect his daughter from school. We know now,,having been told umpteen times that we should have gone back and demanded a proper intro,but we didn't so it has been a VERY steep learning curve since.

Mind you having read on here some of the horror stories about new van,,one guy took 2 years to get it sorted,,we feel we've been let off lightly,,,but you are right we didn't agree to buy an inferior product so hopefully it'll be resolved amicably.

To be honest there is so much to learn when new to caravanning that the dealer would have overloaded you with information.

Thats why its always useful to learn as much as you can before taking delivery, then use the manual if you have an issue, or post on a forum for help.

I'm buying a Swift for the first time since 1990, its a completely different caravan to what that was, and different to my Bailey in many ways, so i'm having to learn about the Swift command system for example.

I am delighted and relieved to be able to say my unit HAS been replaced under warranty and the van came back today.

I am very pleased that you have the result that you are entitled to.
You should never have been asked , or told, that you would have to pay for a replacement.
