On the rear panel ov my caravan ive got 3 blobs of tree sap, its very sticky. What would be the best thing to remove it with. If it was on the side of the van id use white spirit and then polish but didnt think that would be ok on the rear plastic panel

Whatever you use, I would advise trying to get it off as soon as possible. I got blobs of resin on my car when parked under trees on a site last year. I couldn't get it off at the time, so left it to deal with later....and it solidified and now I can't find anyting to touch it (at least without damaging the paint) so it's still there now!

Trucker,

White spirit should be OK, but in amplification of Damian's post - there's more types of plastic made than you can think of - but a caravan plastic panel should be made from either GRP or ABS capped material, and white spirit should be OK.

But it will also remove any wax or surface sealer (if you've used such a product) from the caravan - and you'll need to re-wax and seal afterwards.

While on holiday in S of France recently, when we came to take our awning down, we found what must have been 300 blobs of resin on the top of our awning !!!! This had dripped onto the acrylic roof over almost 3 weeks. My wife & I spent the next hour & a half getting it off and had to use half a bottle of white spirit to remove it. It come off but the blobs have left brown spots all over one end of the awning - we can't see them the inside which is patterned.Luckily, non of the resin went in the van roof. What a mess - we'll have to cover the awning roof if we go on that pitch again.
