Trip to Paris and scenic route to the Alps

My wife and I celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in September this year. She has always wanted to stay in a nice hotel in Paris and visit the alps.

Unbeknown to her, I've just sold my beloved bike (1961 Norton 498cc Manx) so I have a decent amount to spend).

She doesn't know about this trip. We will fly to Paris.

Can anyone recommend a really nice hotel in Paris itself (upto about £350 per night).

Also a route to the Alps and recommed a place to stay.

I'm thinking of hiring a car. I'd like to hire a prestige car too. Can anyone recommend a good hire company?

I would anticipate that we would be away for a total of about three weeks.

Pity about my bike, had some great times with it. However, the missus will be over the moon when she hears about the trip.

A cousin for his honeymoon rented and old pretty mountan ski lodge in July in the Swiss alps about 6 years ago . I believe he arranged the picturesque destination by contacting/visiting "Swiss Centre" in London.

This is nice and central and more in your price range.
 
Try the Westin Paris if you're looking for a hotel that's not just concrete and glass. It's very central. I think the rate is around 300_ a night but I'm not sure as the company paid.

I was comparing car rental rates for somewhere else in the world some time ago and of all the major car rental companies, Thrifty were about the cheapest. I don't know how they compare in France but it may be worth looking at their website.
 
At least you will not be in the 'dog house' like me; I forgot my 37th wedding anniversary yesterday!!!!

However, I still can not understand how you could bear to part with a Manx - surely you must have had something else you could have sold, e.g. television, furniture, carpets, curtains, car, clothes etc., anything but the Norton!!!!!

Anyway, have a good anniversary.
