Hi All, Can anybody tell me where the reset button is on the Truma Ultrastore Water Heater. It all worked fine on the last outing using 240 volts but for some reason can't get it to work this time, works fine on gas. I may have turned the water heater on accidently when I turned the fridge on the night before we left for our holiday to North Wales.

If there is no reset button what is the procedure to reset the heating element if any.

Thanks for any advice.

There is an overheat thermostat in the tank, mine set automatically after switching off for a few minutes then back on.

I had tripped the overheat thermostat by plugging into the EHU with the water heater switch on and no water in the tank.

Graham, as Vernon has said there is no reset switch, but a thermal cut out attached to the element on the outside of the tank, next to the element.

If you left the fridge on all night, and mistakenly the Ultraheat as well, with no water in it, it would have cut out, but when you towed to yoyr destination it should have reset and come on, if it has not, then it seems you have eithe rburnt ou the element or the thermal cut out is faulty.

In either case, it means replacing the element and thermal cut out as they are a complete unit.

Hi Damian, Thanks for replying, I see what you mean, by rights it should have reset itself by now, it looks like a new element and thermal cut out then.

I have not had chance to have a good look as yet but just before we came away we had a Powrtouch motor mover fitted, all the electric installations were in the same area as the water heater, im just wondering if a cable could have been dislodged or something, the water heater is under the fixed bed and the engineer had to get under there to connect the motor mover, just a thought.

Graham, it is possible!!

The lead from the heater element has a plug on the end of it which could have been disconnected.

Try tracing the lead back and see if thats what has caused it.

If not, and you have to replace the element, the new one will NOT have a plug on it, as different manufacturers use different plugs!!

If you need help in how to do it, just ask.

Hi, just a thought, we had no hot water from the electric last time we went out. When we got back, Hubby investigated and found a 1 amp fuse, he replaced it and we had hot water again. Can`t tell you where the fuse was but it must have been near the heater. Hope this helps.

There is a 1amp fuse, it is on the Ultrastore printed circuit board, but the PC board is only used for control of the gas side of the heater.

The electric is a simple straight connection from the ELCB to the element.

Hi Everone, Thanks for all the help and advice. I did a total shutdown this morning for about ten minutes then turned everthing back on and hey presto "it worked" we now have hot water again on electric (saving my gas).

Once again thanks to you all.

Glad it worked out Graham, theh Ultrastore is a very good heater, but the annoying thing with them is that to get the reset to work quite often means comletely disconnecting the mains for 10 to 15 minutes.

Hi Damian, Thanks for getting back. Yes it's all working again but I think it is a bad design of the elictrics on the caravan, I think there should be a seperate switch to isolate the water heater so that when you turn on the charger you don't turn the heater on as well.

Graham, there is usually a separate switch with a neon light to switch the heater on, as you wouldn't neccessarily want it on all the time, especially in France with a limited amperage supply.

I have had a similar problem once. I found that the fuse within the 240v switch for the water heater (on front of front bunk) had blown. Replaced fuse (5amp) and all worked.

Of course, could be that the unit just reset
