I admit to having been a wee bit cynical about the London Olympics before the games opened but the sheer effort shown by the British Olympic team won me over in the end.

Now that the Paralympics are in full swing I've been made to feel very proud of our athletes who are 'disabled'. The gold medal winning sprint by Richard Whitehead who uses prosthetic 'legs' was awe inspiring.
I can't help wondering what legless world war two RAF fighter ace and disability champion Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader would have made of the sprint in which Richard used flexible 'blades' to win Gold at the Paralympics in such thrilling style.
No mean golfer himself, my bet would be that Sir Douglas would have wanted a pair of 'blades' for himself.
