Truma elec. water heater probs.

I've run my new van out after the winter to find the Water heater not working on electric. The tank was emptied over the cold snap. It all works fine on gas.

The light comes on, on the main switch unit, all other electrics work. I undertdsnad there is another fuse in the heater unit, could this have blown whilst the main indicator on the switch unit works?

How can i check the heating element or other parts? It is under warranty but taking it back is a mission. Its possible the unit may have been switched on with an empty tank in the past, but definately not for long and it was working prior to the winter.

Is there a trip on the unit, I know there is one for over heeting but this is apparently supposed to reset after 5 mins? Does this or anything else need the once over?

thanks for your help
