Truma fire won't work properly

Hi I have just bought my first motorhome and I am having difficulties getting my fire to consistently work, it is a Truma s2003p with a manual ignition, sometimes it sparks but won't light and other times it won't even spark ! I don't think there is a problem with the gas supply. Any help is appreciated.

For a consistent spark the Piezo ignition has a very important earth connection, this is a brass finger that sticks out one side of the body of the piezo and is meant to touch the underside of one of the metal louvers of the fire fronts grill
Simple first thing then is to check it's in firm contact?
